Owl Headband

20140106-073854.jpg

A coworker of mine requested a headband with a flower, for her daughter. So as usual, I said of course I will make one, no problem. Off I went in search of the perfect pattern. And sidetracked again, I mean really WHO could resist an owl headband? Not this girl. I love that the owls are created from stitches! This is definitely not a beginner pattern. The pattern did not include pictures for when the stitches get a little complicated. All in all, I love how it came out. I used leftover Vanna’s Choice in Silver Heather from the Picture Blanket and of course some of Grandma’s Buttons. Now I have to get back to the Flower Headband search. Let’s hope this Crafting Spazz doesn’t get sidetracked again. Happy day everyone!

What’s New? Picture Crochet!

Picture crochetMy newest adventure, call it what you will. I will go with picture crochet, portrait crochet, graph crochet.  I was searching for something to make for my parents Christmas present when I stumbled on portrait crochet images.  Wow was I impressed with the detail of the crochet so on the search I went. Hours of research, but it was worth it to see the look on my parents face.

The way I did this blanket, you do not carry the yarn through, its a cut and square knot. This meant I had to back my crochet, so off to Joann’s I went in search of holiday sale fleece.

And here is the original picture i started with of my parents 1940 Ford.

Hello Kitty

Well the owl hat started it and now I have orders for three more plus a Sock Monkey hat and a Hello Kitty hat and I played around with a Grinch hat too. I am also working on a beautiful crochet purse I found. Now if you are reading this I am sure what came to mind was a hobo type market bag or a tiny crochet flap purse. I am here to stop that thinking process right now. It is the cutest purse EVER. I found the pattern on Ravelry and I have fallen in love with it. It is called Gently Love Bag. The pattern was $5.50, and English is not the authors native tongue but I seem to be doing fine so far. Here is a picture from the pattern. Here is also the Hello Kitty hat in brown, white and black to match a kitten the person had. Sorry for the picture quality, I always forget to take a picture until the last minute. I got this pattern from a great blog called Crochet in Color.

Crochet

I found this pattern for the cutest crochet owl hat. Animal hats are so big right now. The lovely blog Repeat Crafter Me showed me the way.

Here is where I thank one of my awesome friends for having a baby girl. With out you to give this to it would have been shoved it the closet with the rest of my finished and unfinished projects.

Thank God its Friday

Well it was a tough week in the world of Payroll. With quarterlies, W2’s and paychecks, I thought for sure there was going to be a stabbing. Since I am not writing you from jail it looks like I made it out OK. To celebrate this non stabbing moment I thought I would give you some eye candy….

This is one of my favorite pieces I have made. It is a cuff and is done in an even peyote stitch. I love cherry blossom trees, I think they have such a classic beauty with an underlying strength that is timeless. This is what I came up with to capture that. Have a great day!

Grandma’s Buttons

Most of us have that Ball jar of our coveted ancestor buttons. Mine are from my grandma, given to me after she passed. Now I did use a few when I quilted a blanket for my daughter’s 9th Christmas, but other than that they have stayed in the jar on the shelf. Remember coveted. In comes a blog I Stumbled upon Hope Studios. Button Bracelets! I couldn’t find leather cord, darn small town, so hemp twine it is. Here are the results plus my daughter’s obsession with color sorting. Have a Happy Day!
